The City CIO Club Appoints Ewan MacLeod as President
London, 2 June 2023
As artificial intelligence rewrites the job of the chief information officer, The City CIO Club today announced the appointment of Ewan MacLeod as President, bringing one of the sector's most experienced technology leaders into a role focused on connecting and supporting senior CIOs across the City and beyond.
MacLeod is an accomplished chief information officer who has led digital, technology and transformation programmes for Nordea and Sohar Bank. Across those roles he has carried the responsibility that defines modern technology leadership, taking complex organisations through significant change while keeping the business running and customers served.
His appointment comes at a moment when artificial intelligence is reshaping how technology teams operate, how decisions get made and where value is created. MacLeod brings a grounded perspective on that shift, treating AI as a discipline to be mastered rather than a headline to chase, and he understands the practical challenges facing CIOs because he has lived them.
“The CIO role has never carried more weight or more opportunity, and the leaders who get it right are the ones who keep learning from each other. I am honoured to take on this role and I want the Club to be the place where senior technology leaders can speak honestly about what is working, what is not and where the real value lies.” Ewan MacLeod, President, The City CIO Club
As President, MacLeod will help shape the conversations that matter most to members, bringing together senior technology leaders to share what works in practice and to learn from one another in a setting built on trust and candour.
“Ewan brings exactly the kind of experience and judgement our members value, and we are thrilled to welcome him as President. His leadership will help the Club grow into an even stronger community for the people steering technology at the highest level.” Dan Ilett, Chairman, The City CIO Club
